painting
Shown are recent acrylic paintings on wood panels and encaustic works on paper. Central to the work is interplay of balance and imbalance. Inverted triangular forms rest unsteadily on their apex. Tangents (where shapes touch but do not overlap) are used to create visual tension throughout the composition. Other untouching shapes float where needed to maintain an overall balance of forms. But this equilibrium is tenuous, held in place by a fragile agreement between opposing visual forces.
